Dispersant Spraying Aircraft
Over the years the Company has designed and produced dispersant spraying systems for the BN2A Islander, DC3, DC6, F406 and Electra aircraft. The systems have all been proven in operations, exercises and trials and are certified by the Civil Aviation Authority.
The latest Electra system comprises: An array of tanks mounted on pallets which are secured to the floor inside the cargo bay, a palletised pumping module, spray booms fitted externally either side of the rear fuselage and a control console located in the cockpit. Each Electra can deliver up to 15 tonnes of dispersant at 140 knots from a height of 50 feet. The dispersant is delivered at various rates, the droplet size is 600 microns diameter.
The F406 dispersant spraying installation can be quickly attached to the under side of the aircraft. The system consists of a removable tank with an electrically driven pump mounted in a dry bay within the tank and spray booms, which are an integral part of the tank. Control of the system is achieved by means of a control console and instrument display, which can be readily installed on the flight deck. The F406 can carry up to one tonne of dispersant. Spraying is carried out at 130 knots from a height of 30 feet.
